Greening Cities Partnership Webinar: Collaboration on National Restoration Plans
The second Nature Restoration Webinar will address key questions on how cities, regions, and national governments should collaborate when drafting National Restoration Plans (NRPs). Participants will explore how policy ambitions at different levels can be aligned to ensure effective implementation. The discussion will highlight the roles of municipalities and regional governments in shaping restoration measures, ensuring integration with existing policies, and overcoming administrative barriers.
Defining the Framework for Collaboration
Axelle Griffon, Senior Policy Advisor for Environment and Mobility at the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), will provide insights into survey results on the main barriers to collaboration between different government levels. Ludvig Forslund from the European Environment Agency (TBC) will present an overview of the uniform format for NRPs, including the role of Local Administrative Units (LAUs) and Urban Ecosystem Areas (UEAs) in reporting, typologies of urban greening measures, policy linkages, and funding mechanisms.
Case Study: Cross-Government Cooperation in National Restoration Planning
This segment will showcase real-world examples of national-local collaboration. Laura Maki from the Finnish Association of Municipalities (TBC) will share insights into the cooperation between Finnish municipalities and the national government on urban restoration planning. The Croatian Ministry for Sustainable Development and Green Transition (TBC) will provide perspectives on how Croatia is preparing for the Nature Restoration Law.
The webinar will be moderated by Heather Brooks (Eurocities) and will include interactive discussions with opportunities for participants to engage directly with the speakers.
