Redefining Food Systems: Be Part of the Upcoming Webinar from the Food Partnership

The third webinar organized by the Food Partnership will cover topics such as food education and food procurement, featuring two engaging case studies: the SchoolFood4Change project and the City of Krany's approach to joint public food procurement for public institutions.
1. Investing in Children’s Health and the Planet Through School Meals. Insights from School Food For Change Project

SchoolFood4Change is an EU-funded project, headed by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and co-created by a consortium of 43 European partners.  The project not only supports the health and well-being of children but also fosters stronger connections between schools, local food producers, and policy makers. By integrating sustainability criteria into food procurement, implementing food education, and training kitchen and canteen staff , SchoolFood4Change is setting a benchmark for systemic change in school food systems across Europe. With its focus on social justice and long-term impact, the project exemplifies how innovative approaches to school meals can contribute to addressing pressing societal challenges such as food insecurity, child health and nutrition, and climate change. Amalia Ochoa, coordinator of SF4C and head of Sustainable Food Systems at ICLEI Europe, will present the project.

2. DIGI boosts healthy meals to more than 50% LOCAL: the inspiring practice of the City of Kranj

The City of Krany will showcase its innovative approach to joint public food procurement for public institutions, which has led to a significant increase in locally sourced food in school meal plans. Additionally, the city has successfully digitalized the process. This initiative earned them the prestigious Digi Role Model award from the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
