Looking back on the 6th Urban Poverty Partnership meeting, 29/30 June 2017, Brussels

The Partnership on Urban Poverty (UPP), one of the pilot Partnerships launched in the Urban Agenda process, convened for the sixth time on 29 June 2017. The meeting’s objective was to discuss, finalise and endorse the revised draft Action Plan.

Building upon the April 2017 meeting that had taken place in Kortrijk (BE), the partners discussed the concrete actions developed by the working groups and synthesised in one draft Action Plan. These revolve around four priority areas: the regeneration of deprived neighbourhoods, child poverty, homelessness, and the vulnerability of Roma people.

On 30 June, working group leaders and coordinators continued this work in an editorial meeting making final edits to the draft Action Plan ready to be shared in the Public Feedback.

The outcome of the work done by the UPP in the past months and weeks, namely the proposed set of actions, can be found in the Background Paper to the Public Feedback. The Public Feedback is open to anyone who wishes to comment on the actions until 22 August 2017. Have your say here!

For the UPP, the remainder of 2017 will be mainly about incorporating the Public Feedback results into the final Action Plan, which will be presented in October 2017. Furthermore, the Partnership will hold a workshop at the CITIES Forum on 27/28 November 2017 in Rotterdam. This is also where the next steps regarding the implementation of the Action Plan will be presented. Updated information on this will be available on this website.
