The Urban Agenda for the EU Partnerships demonstrate the power of coordinated efforts across governance levels to address complex urban challenges and create sustainable solutions.

Founded in 2017, the Urban Agenda Partnership on Innovative and Responsible Public Procurement has evolved over the past eight years into a significant European network. Recently, the Partnership published the final report of its 2022-2024 Action Plan, highlighting the successful completion of all planned initiatives.

The Inclusion of Migrants and Refugees (IMR) Partnership of the Urban Agenda for the European Union convened for its first in-person meeting of its second phase in Brussels on 5 December 2024. This meeting provided an opportunity to explore synergies with the Cities of Equality Partnership and align efforts to tackle challenges linked with social inclusion in urban areas through an intersectional approach.

On November 27th, the EUI Permanent Secretariat organized a meeting with the authors of the “Inception Report on Innovative Financing Schemes in European Cities” to promote a debate and offer valuable recommendations to UAEU Partnerships on how to implement innovative financial schemes for delivering their solutions.

The EU Directors-General Responsible for Urban Matters (DGUM) meeting took place on November 27th in Budapest, Hungary. The event provided an opportunity to review progress on ongoing initiatives under the Urban Agenda for the EU (UAEU). Representatives from the Hungarian Presidency, EU Member States, and the European Commission participated in the discussions.

The Urban Agenda for the EU Partnership on Greening Cities was represented at the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12), held in Cairo from November 4–8, 2024. This global event convened over 24,000 participants from 182 countries, including policymakers, urban planners, researchers, and civil society representatives.

On November 19, 2024, the City of Haarlem, in Netherlands, hosted a meeting of the UAEU Partnership on Innovative & Responsible Public Procurement to outline the new Action Plan. The event also offered an opportunity to explore potential areas for collaboration with the Food Partnership, represented at the event by the Food Thematic Partnership Officer.

The Urban Agenda for the EU Partnership on Greening Cities is tackling some of the most pressing issues cities face in expanding green infrastructure, including how to secure innovative funding models. We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming public webinar, organized by the City of Ostrava, to explore the role of Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) in Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and other financing tools that support green infrastructure development.

The UAEU Partnership on Food is addressing the key challenges faced by cities, as well as regional and national authorities, in creating more resilient, safe, and sustainable food systems. We are excited to introduce a new series of public webinars organized by the Partnership to delve into the complexities of food systems transformation, alongside innovative approaches and solutions.

On October 24-25 2024, members of the Cities of Equality Partnership convened in Paris to advance their shared vision of more inclusive and equitable cities across Europe. The meeting was hosted by the French Agency for Territorial Cohesion (ANCT), which coordinates this EU-wide partnership alongside the Metropolitan City of Rome.
